Didactic resources

The Municipal Museum of Alcover allows you to discover the past in an interactive, fun, and comprehensible way. The permanent palaeontology exhibition lets us know the origins of the forms of life that have been produced in our area by medium of our samples of different fossil remains that have been discovered, accompanied by explanations in text format about the history and evolution of life on planet earth and specially the fossil site of Alcover - Mont-ral.

The educational aims of the museum are directed towards every educational level and group. The program includes activities for Elementary, Primary and Secondary School, always aiming to keep the contents and methods in line with the different cycles and stages of the curriculum.

The Municipal Museum of Alcover organizes and develops numerous activities to promote the knowledge and consideration of the surroundings of the palaeontological heritage that it holds.

General aims of the activities:

Introduce people to science.

Promote the incorporation of the geological history's scientific method and analysis of planet earth.

Encourage the understanding of the earth's history through observation, management, etc.

Awaken the spirit of observation, curiosity and imagination.

Inform about the local palaeontological heritage and work with the scientific community in the carrying out of the study and work.

These objectives are developed through a wide range of activities of which are addressed to the school groups that are developed around the following groups:

1.- Educational folders for scholars.
2.- Guided visits to the permanent exhibition in the museum.

At the beginning of every school year (September) the museum will produce a presentation about the educational activities and materials that they have on offer to different educational centres and teachers who are interested.
