Navigating the Family Tree Files

The majority of the Family Tree files are either:

Family Tables: Those containing a group of threads of the tree (for example, all those closely related to the LUNNs, or to the SMARTs up to where they joined the LUNNs); there are several such families, for the ADAMSON, CLEMENTS, CROAD, GARDNER, LUNN, SEE and SMART* families, each containing information about people who were closely related to them**; or
Census Tables: The relevant tables for a particular year (1841, 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891, 1901 and 1911).

* A file of other relatives extends the main group to those people more remotely related to me; I hope to develop it into the appropriate format eventually.
** A file of people who are still alive or died recently is available on request to family members.

Other Information

The Notes file contains subsidiary information that you may find useful or interesting as background. For example, what Parish Registers, Archdeacon’s Transcripts and Bishop’s Transcripts are; notes about dates before 1752 and registrations before 1874; the meanings of some surnames; information about places named in census and other tables (or links to Wikipedia); and something about the sport of ice-skating in the fens.
There is also a file with Indexes of the Census tables and the earliest occurrence of Surnames in the Family Tree. It also has some relevant maps.

You may see the ♣ sign in some of the files; these indicate people who may still be alive, or who have recently died. Information about them is not (yet) given, to maintain their privacy.
