Brief Curriculum Vitae
Ceramist born in Jesús-Tortosa (Tarragona) in 1944. National teacher, 1965. And studied at the Schools of Arts and Crafts in Tortosa and in Tarragona. He has followed several courses in La Bisbal de l'Empordà (Girona - Spain), in Barcelona, and at Enfanga't (Girona). In 1975 he obtains the Graduation title of Aplicated Arts in Barcelona, speciality: Pottery.
Joan Panisello is internationally considered as one of the most outstanding ceramists of our times, for the originality of his shapes as well as for the varied colouring in his works. In the last 50 years he has produced more than 10,000 different samples of colours. In 1991 Madrid and Barcelona publishing houses offered to publish a book on his experience in the world of ceramic colours.
His work of art is known in the five continents through more than 1,600 national and overseas publications that deal with his work. He is also known having held more than 314 exhibitions in several countries and by more than 90 of his works in between Museums, Foundations and private Collections...
In 2008 Spain's Ministry of Culture set up a retrospective itinerant exhibition, on which occasion an extraordinary book summarizing the artist's career was published. In 2014 a biography of the artist by Emigdi Subirats was published. Editorial Onada.
A total of 38 awards -national and international- (Spain, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Japan, Romania) guarantee his personal prestige and his professional savoir faire. In 1992 he received the award "Tortosí de l'any 1991". (Tortosa's citizen of the year 1991). In 2013 he was elected to the International Academy of Ceramics. In 2021 Joan Panisello receives the St George's Cross from the hands of the President of the Catalan Government.
He has represented his country as a guest of honour: 1986: "The 1st International Ceramica Contest’86" Mino (Japan) - 1995: 4th Biennial CONDORHUASI. Grand Masters of the International Ceramic News (Bolivia) – 2006: ARTGILA Festival. Roumazieres Loubert, (France) – 2008: 9th Condorhuasi Latin American Biennal Show in Cordova (Argentina) - 1995: 4th Biennial CONDORHUASI. Grand Masters of the International Ceramic News (Bolivia). He has participated on eight occasions in international ART CAMP events held in Ordino (Andorra), invited by UNESCO, CPECP (Conservation and Promotion of European Cultural Heritage) and by the Calimanesti Council in (Romania). He has given lectures on his own artistic career at art and ceramics schools, colleges, high schools, private schools, associations, ART's CAMP...
Works from his collection BINOMIO ÁRBOL-HOMBRE EN LAS TIERRAS DEL EBRO have exhibited 64 times.
Between the years 2015 and 2021 several writers and Romanian poetes have published in Romania 12 books with photos of their ceramic works and sculptures. Authors: Ioan Barbu, Coman Sova, Gabriela Banu and Héctor Dante Cincotta.
In July 2022, the Joan Panisello Espai-Museum opened in his town of Jesús, with a collection of 50 works that the artist and his family gave to the town and its people. He is elected a member of Reial Acadèmia Catalana de les Belles Arts Sant Jordi (Saint George's Royal Catalan Academy of Fine Arts) for Tortosa. September 2022.

In his house he has got a workshop, four pottery kilns, half of which built by the artist himself, and two permanent exhibition areas, open all year round.
