It is a variant form of ptr PI-t1-017.

Hithpo'el imperfect, 1st person singular of verbs ע"ע having a ס, a שׁ or a שׂ as their first root consonant and having at the same time no guttural as their last root consonant:

(וְ) אֶשְׁתּוֹמֵם ׀ אשתומם ----- and I) will be appalled (Isa 63:5

[ שָׁמֵם] ----- be desolated
