Retro DCC - Märklin
retroDCC

Although the Märklin Delta system is not a DCC system but rather MM, due to its age and because it can be used as a booster I have included it.

Delta

This control needs to be connected to a Trafo 6631 or similar and creates a digital MM signal to control up to 4 locomotives depending on the position of the control knob plus a fifth with a simple Delta Pilot 6605 control that can be connected but that I have not located.

Digital locomotive addresses 78 (steam), 72 (diesel), 60 (railcar), 24 (electric) and 80 on the Delta Pilot can be chosen. The speed and direction is controlled with the transformer, unfortunately I do not have a digital Märklin locomotive to test it.

It can also serve as a booster for Märklin by joining with a cable the two connections where the Delta Pilot would go and selecting the STOP position on the right side on the control.

Trafo

This is the typical Märklin AC transformer, the output can be regulated between 4V and 16V and in the momentary reversing position it provides 24V.

The Delta system converts the AC output voltage of the transformer into MM digital for the locomotive selected on the Delta 6604 control.

Trafo

This is the first version of the Märklin CentralStation CS1 developed by ESU, it has the update with the S88 and the latest version from Märklin (v2.0.4). Long time ago ESU offered an update (CS1 Reloaded) to convert it into an ESU ECoS, but it has not been available for years, so it cannot be updated any more. The network protocol is the same as the ECoS but in an older version.

It has a monochrome touchscreen and two knobs to control locomotives, with MM and mfx protocol, with up to 16 functions (8 directly with the side keys). For each locomotive you can choose a name and a protocol. It can control MM accessories with one or two addresses (an icon can be assigned to it). Routes and shuttle trains can also be established.

It has a sniffer input to which older Märklin systems can be connected to be able to control the CS1 locomotives from that system. For connection to the PC it has an Ethernet connector.
