It is a variant form of PI-t1-050.

Hithpa'el, three forms of regular verbs having a ס, a שׁ or a שׂ as their 1st root consonant and having at the time no guttural nor ר as their middle root consonant and having at the time a guttural as their last root consonant:

1. perfect, 3rd singular masculine:

הִשְׁתַּבֵּחַ ׀ השתבח ----- he/it) prided him/itself

שָׁבַח ----- become better

הִסְתַּפֵּחַ ׀ הסתפח ----- he/it) joined him/itself

סָפַח ----- join, attach to

הִשְׁתַּגֵּעַ ׀ השתגע ----- he/it) showed madness

שָׁגַע ----- be mad


2. Construct infinitive:

(לְ) הִשְׁתַּבֵּחַ ׀ השתבח ----- to) pride him/itself (1Ch 16:35

שָׁבַח ----- praise

(מֵ) הִסְתַּפֵּחַ ׀ הסתפח ----- than) join him/itself (1Sa 26:19

סָפַח ----- join, attach to

(לְ) הִשְׁתַּגֵּעַ ׀ השתגע ----- to) show madness (1Sa 21:16

שָׁגַע ----- be mad
