About the Battle of The Goi Bridge or The Battle of Valls
On February 25, 1809, much of the Spanish army in Catalonia, led by General Teodor Swiss Reding, architect of the victory of Baylen, and the French Army VII Corps, commanded by General Laurent Gouvion prestigious Saint-Cyr, is fought a battle that was to stage a major part of the municipalities of Valls and Alcover. The battle of Valls, popularly known by the nom de guerre of "Pont de Goi" (Goi bridge) was one of the most important battles of the Revolutionary War (Napoleonic Wars or also known as the French War) in Catalonia, along with the siege of Tarragona of 1811, became the main feat of arms which took place in this area.
