several performers from the Tarragona area (South of
Catalonia) who are dedicated to the ancient and
traditional music. They want to promote the repertory of
this musical period, and wants to offer the most
accurated view of the Renaissance world. The religious and profane music of the main spanish and catalan composers from the XIV, XV and XVI centuries feeds the varied repertory of this group, that brings up to the timbre and sensibility of that period. Renatus is formed by:
The colaboration between the ancient music group Renatus and the Mare de Déu del Camí Choir was born on the tour that both formations made to Extremadura (west of Spain) on april 1997. From this tour we can enhance the concerts done in the Coria cathedral and Cáceres cathedral invited by the bishopric. In the repertory, we offer a series of songs from the main "cancioneros" (song books), as for example the "Cancionero de Palacio", from where we can enhance the composer Juan del Encina (1468-1555). On the other hand we also come closer to one of the main compositions of the XV century court, the "ensalada" (salade). This kind of composition always mixed religious and profane lyrics, and different languages and rithms. Actually we play the ensalada named "El Fuego" (The Fire) from Mateu Flecha "El Vell" (1481-1555), chapel master in the court of Madrid and in the cistercian monastery of Poblet. |
