' Calçotada La Móra'07 '

 

 

About 2 weeks ago, on Sunday, I joined with some of my friends in Tarragona and we made what I told you it's called Calçotada. It's a lunch typical of the south of Catalunya, with its origin in a city called Valls. It's a very easy meal: take one 'calçot' each time, peel it manually, dip it into the sauce called Romesco, and bring it to your mouth.

But, what are the calçots ? Mmmm... onions. Just onions. They are grown in a special manner, getting this long shape that I'm sure most of you would like to taste...

First step is to cook the calçots. Just put them on the grill, and wait them to 'whistle'. It's not a hard work, but sometimes the fumes cause problems, in our case always solved by the group of professionals we are.

Meanwhile, the girls, our bohemian girls, were demonstrating their knowledge in belly dancing. We have an expert for that, a teacher actually, she's the girl in white (left pic).

And after a while, we started diping, eating, drinking, etc first calçots and then 'llangonissa', plus 'llom', meaning meeeet, resting and enjoying the time...
